Caring, Nurturing Environment The Vincent Elementary School offers a positive warm and caring environment for all students. Student projects and artwork fills the halls. Music fills the air music wing and is integrated into the classroom setting. We model, promote, and expect mutual respect in every classroom and throughout our community of learners.
Safety and Security The safety of our students and staff is top priority at Vincent Elementary. All visitors are required to enter our school through the office entrance, buzz to enter, and check in with the office staff. Everyone visiting must wear a Visitor’s Badge before entering the building. We are fortunate to have a number of security cameras monitoring all entrances, hallways, and the exterior of our building. Our OJR police also have access to our building cameras and provide security personnel throughout the year.
Educational Programs All programs of academic study for our K-5 elementary students are aligned with the Pennsylvania Standards. We implement a strong balanced literacy philosophy that provides teacher modeling and instruction in reading/writing comprehension strategies, guided practice in instructional level books, and independent reading and writing with student conferencing. Word Study enhances the literacy process with instruction of spelling, phonics and vocabulary matching each student’s instructional level.
Aligned with the national and state standards, our math curriculum and assessments guide our instruction toward deeper student thinking and problem solving for greater connection to real world math applications.
Technology In our high tech world it is important that we provide the latest in technology for our students. We have leaders in technology education on staff who collaborate and work with all classroom teachers to enhance the educational experience through technology.
