East Vincent Elementary School News
From the Desk of Dr. Cheryl M. Bell, Principal

I was truly honored to be named as the Principal of the East Vincent Elementary School in December 2009.  My lifelong goal as an educator has always been to serve the students, parents, and staff members of the district in which I am employed to my utmost ability in providing all students a quality education.  Having joined the Owen J. Roberts School District Community in August 2004, I am proud to be a member of an administrative team that makes the educational programs provided to the students the number one commitment of the district.

Believing that educational leaders remain challenged to stay current with best practices and the knowledge necessary to effectively lead school districts with the appropriate vision in the 21st century, I have enriched my professional growth through life-long learning, affiliation with professional organizations, and diverse professional responsibilities.  I believe my work experience, educational background, and demonstrated work ethic prepare me for the challenges of this new position.  Having served as a secondary mathematics instructor, secondary guidance counselor, coach, class advisor, Content Specialist for Guidance Services, and Middle School Assistant Principal, as well as having completed three K-12 practicum experiences, I am thrilled for the opportunity to work as an elementary administrator.

My enthusiasm for this new position is extraordinary!  The major responsibilities I envision include providing the necessary support, supervision, and resources for staff members to have the skills to meet the educational needs of all of our students.  In addition, I will strive to embed the importance of character training in all that we do as we strive to prepare our students to be responsible citizens.

On a personal note, I live in Lancaster County with my husband, Bill, who is a former elementary teacher.  We have two children, both of whom have provided me with a considerable amount of education in terms of child development and parenting.  Our son, Christopher, has earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Accounting from Villanova University and will graduate from the Villanova School of Law in May 2010.  Katherine, our daughter, proudly serves as an elementary teacher in the North Coventry Elementary School having earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Susquehanna University.

Please accept my most sincere thanks for the wonderful welcome that I have received in joining this excellent school community.  Mrs. Brown told me many times how wonderful everyone associated with East Vincent would be and I am experiencing this kindness firsthand!

As an educational leader, I am passionate about the learning process and hope to instill that passion in the students that I serve.  Having once read, “Learning is a treasure which accompanies us everywhere,” I attempt to emulate what I believe as I continue my educational journey.  I am grateful to enhance my role as an educational leader as the Principal of the East Vincent Elementary School and I will strive to be an effective leader in our school community.

With warmest regards,
Cheryl M. Bell, Ed.D.
